Anyone up for taking a walk downtown?

    Filter
Hey Man, Nice Shot. Dose. Take a Picture. Just a few of the chart toppers under Filter's belt. Their most recent album, Anthems for the Damned, is what frontman Patrick calls his "howl in the night," a harsh indictment of civilization that doesn't exclude himself from its vision of a world falling apart. Filter will rock the downtown live stage!
Also Playing: Charm City Devils, Bill West, The Fifth, Bright Young Things, Swagger, Ethan Hanson

They are planning a downtown circular bus route downtown and it includes a stop at Seaboard. They have 3 hybrid buses coming and it will be free to ride... ( It helps when that the Fed is picking up 80% of the cost. ) The buses will pick up people every 10 minutes. The buses will also be running until 2:15 am on Thur-Sat. Rumur has it that it will start around April. on a side note..

I just wanted to provide the most up to date info on the downtown
circulator, which will be known as the "R" line (I know this infor
because I am on the Raleigh Transit Authority).

The bus will run in a loop from the Convention Center up Wilmington,
go around Moore Square, back toi Wilmingston to Peace, down West to
Tucker and onto Glenwood Ave, over to Dawson on Morgan, and back to
the convention center. At night, because of reduced traffic, there
is a spur into the Warehouse District. This route, at night, comes
very close to most of the major parking decks and all the major
    entertainment districts!!

Guy is right about the end time on the weekends - 2:15. While this
isn't as late as some of you may stay at the bars, you can pretty
much stay until closing and get a ride back to your car, closer to
home, or where ever. We are fortunate that the bus will stop in front
of Seaboard on Peace St so it comes pretty close to us; and it wil
run on a 10-12 minute headway (i.e. you can pick it up every 10-12
minutes). And, best of all, it is FREE!! Whoo hoo.

Also, the buses are hyrbid electric and will run more quietly and
cleanly than the normal CAT buses.

I hope you all will take advantage of this great new amenity for our
city. The more we use it, the more likely they are to a) keep it
running and b) add a bus serving a loop in the opposite direction or
    other parts of downtown!!

Tylers Tap room is going up next to Tookie's Grill at Seaboard.

    equifax can suck my Equiballs.
What a scam. They placed a Freeze on my credit report, I didn't ask for this, They didn't tell me. Since they didn't tell me (IE give me any Information about this freeze) they want to charge me 10$ and have me mail them a folder full of personal information to give me the Pin number (which I cannot do shit without) that is associated with the Freeze and as irony would have it the Pin is necc to get the pin. Then to Modify the Freeze they want to charge me another 10$. What a bunch of Crooks... The possibility of getting a living person on the phone from Equifax....Zero.

    Why Organic Sux...

The last 50 years, however, have seen enormous increases in the use of synthetic fertilizers using ammonia from the Haber-Bosch process. Vaclav Smil of the University of Manitoba, one of the world's foremost experts on energy, estimates that 40 percent of the human population owes its existence [pdf] to synthetic fertilizers.

*** Swing states swinging to Obama: Most of the national polls -- including our NBC/WSJ survey -- are now showing Obama with a double-digit national lead. And here come a slew of brand-new state polls that also suggest Obama is in command of this presidential contest. The University of Wisconsin’s Big Ten Battleground polls have Obama up 10 points in Indiana (51%-41%), 13 points in Iowa (52%-39%), 22 in Michigan (58%-36%), 19 in Minnesota (57%-38%), 12 in Ohio (53%-41%), 11 in Pennsylvania (52%-41%), 13 in Wisconsin (53%-40%), and nearly 30 in Obama’s home state of Illinois (61%-32%). Meanwhile, there are new Quinnipiac surveys that show Obama up five points in Florida (49%-44%), 14 in Ohio (52%-38%), and 13 in Pennsylvania (53%-40%). And finally, new CNN/Time surveys find Obama ahead by five points among likely voters in Nevada (51%-46%), four points in North Carolina (51%-47%), four in Ohio (50%-46%), and 10 points in Virginia (54%-44%). The lone state survey that shows McCain ahead: CNN/Time’s West Virginia poll, where McCain’s nine (53%-44%).

    Debate
    Watched the Debate last night.

This is what I took from it.

    A. Obama actually talked about what he would do, In a somewhat clear way. Attacked but did it smoothly.

    B. McCain talked like Someone My Mom would listen to, or My Grandma, Also talked like he wanted to scare people, He waved alot of Scary things around. The Repugs must have run out of vision, because they were trying to scare their party

    C. McCain wanted So badly to come away from that with some sort of Catch Phrase. Something that would define him or Obama, It was very Forced.

    D. There was alot more Political showmanship from McCain From my point of view...

Now for the funny one, VP debate. The next one should be good for a few laughs.

Triangulator Part Deux: City of Oaks *

    People of the Triangle,

Back in May we held our inaugural Triangulator scavenger hunt in Durham.
Over thirty people participated in the six hour multi-media, multi-modal
    (sub)urban (mis)adventure.

In the Bull City we climbed, we rhymed, and we memorialized, discovering
coal chutes and hidden swimming pools and secret passageways in the
process. We learned about why Durham was the city of medicine long before
Duke Hospitals, unearthed the ghosts of the city's industrial past and
experimented with new uses for Fufu flour and Waxy Corn. But most
importantly, we were able to see Durham in new ways: finding new intrigue
and beauty in the places and people we pass by every day and discovering
parts of the city (sometimes right around the corner) that we never knew
existed. Check out some of the photos from the
    event<http://www.triangul>on our interactive map (circa
    1923).

Now, its time to unleash this joyous rite of exploration on the state
capital! * *Triangulator will come to Raleigh *Saturday, August 23rd from
    Noon to 6 pm.*

The scavenger hunt registration will begin at 11am in Halifax Mall (behind
the state legislature) with some physical warm-ups and end with food,
festivities, and awards at a location to be announced. Just like the game
in Durham, there will be subjective and objective questions, written
questions and photo questions. But this time we'll also be throwing in some
puzzles and obstacles, including unwitting appearances by some of Raleigh's
    favorite sons (and daughters).

Triangulator is very much like and very much unlike other scavenger hunts in
that it involves both searches for specific items AND subjective,
interpretative explorations. There may or may not be right answers, you may
or may not know them and that may or may not be an advantage. Go forth and
    triangulate!

    *Schedule
    *Saturday, August 23rd*
    * 11am: Congregation. Games and Distribution of Clues at Halifax
    Mall (map<http://maps.>
    )
11:45am -6pm: Scavenger Hunt in Raleigh (official questions will be within
two miles of the state Capitol, but you can go anywhere for the subjective
    questions)
6:30pm: Awards, Drinks, Food, and Presentations at a downtown location
TBA. It's BYOB but we'll have food.

    *Rules and regulations: *
    * Each team will require a digital camera (i.e. bring one if you've got
    one).
    * Registration is $5 per person (includes dinner)
    * Unexpected interpretation of the questions and unpredictable results
    are encouraged.
    * Boundaries: All provided questions will be within 2 miles of the state
capitol. Subjective questions can be answered from anywhere.within the city
    limits.
    * Winning teams will receive much backslapping and if you're lucky a
    found chotchky.
    * Teams will be formed on arrival (bring folks to play with or come and
    join up with others).

*Why: * Because we are fed by curiosity and delight for everything that is
the Triangle (and by extension, our world)

*How: *You can use any vehicle you like though we are proponents of the
world's most efficient vehicle, the bicycle, and the game is designed with
that in mind. However, we are also big fans of the world's least polluting
traveler, the pedestrian, and the game can be managed on foot.

*Disclaimer: * This is an ongoing process - participate at your own risk! We
found with the Durham game that groups did best when they were willing to go
places and do things they've never done before. Come ready to open yourself
up to the possibilities of the city.

    * To RSVP email: *scavenger.hunt@ triangulator. org
(As part of our pre-registration process, please include your favorite
Raleigh event/happening with your RSVP (Triangulator *is* an acceptable
    option!))

    *More about Triangulator*
With scavenger hunts growing increasingly trendy (and venture capital funds
salivating over their profit potential), we should remind you (and
ourselves) of why we're organizing this event.

Triangulator is about re-examining our every day spaces: thinking more
critically about how we interact with the cities we live in, and becoming
more interested in how we affect and are affected by what (and who) is
around us. Why does the street stop being cleaned after you cross certain
roads, where can you find urban fruit, how is it that neighborhoods right
next to each other have different accents? These are all questions
    Triangulator seeks to better understand.

At the beginning of this year, a group of us got together to start talking
about how we could create a forum to exchange local knowledge about the
Triangle with interested (and interesting) people. We decided the best way
to do it was to get those people together to play a game. Thus,
    Triangulator was born.

If you're interested and would like to be more involved you should email us
at scavenger.hunt@ triangulator. org. We'd love your help as we try to build
a community interested in feeding our collective delight in the geography
    around us.

    Henside the Beltline: Tour d'Coop

Next Saturday, May 17th, Raleigh's city chicken owners invite you
into their backyards for a first-hand look at keeping chickens in an
urban environment. Discover the variety of breeds that might be
nesting in your neighborhood, learn about raising chickens, and see
how families integrate chickens into their gardening practices. Coops
are in Oakwood, Five Points, Avent West, and other Raleigh
neighborhoods. All proceeds to go Raleigh Urban Ministries.

    The tour hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
